Gainsborough station group

The Gainsborough station group is a small station group of two railway stations in Gainsborough, England consisting of Central and Lea Road. The station group is printed on national rail tickets as GAINSBOROUGH STNS.

Stations

Gainsborough Central is located on station approach in the town centre, all services and the station are provided by Northern. Despite its more central location it receives a very limited service on the Sheffield to Cleethorpes route.

Gainsborough Lea Road is located to the south of the town centre on Lea Road, although less practical it is the town's most used station. It revives services on the Sheffield to Lincoln and Doncaster to Lincoln lines, although the East Midlands Trains service between Doncaster and Lincoln is limited. The station is managed by East Midlands Trains, who also provide some services; most trains are provided by Northern.

Connections

Tickets marked as GAINSBOROUGH STNS may be used to exit the railway network at either of the two stations, but Central station only currently receives a Saturday only limited service. There is no practical rail services between Gainsborough's two stations, Lea Road station is located a mile from the town centre and the only practical option is to traverse the distance by road.
