Gabino Sosa (born 4 October 1899) was an Argentine football midfielder who played for Central Córdoba and the Argentina national team.

Career

Born in Rosario - Sosa began playing soccer for local side Central Córdoba. Playing left wing; he made his debut in the local championship in 1913.

Sosa played his entire club career as an amateur for Central Córdoba, winning four local championships with the club and the 1934 Copa Adrián Beccar Varela. When Argentine football turned professional in 1931, Sosa declined professional contract offers from clubs in Buenos Aires and stayed on with Central Córdoba.

Sosa played fifteen times for the Argentina national team, scoring six goals. On October 20, 1926 he scored four goals in the same game in a famous 8-0 win over Paraguay.

After retiring as a player he went on to become a football coach, managing Central Córdoba from 1939.

Personal

On November 7, 1969 the home stadium of Central Córdoba was renamed Estadio Gabino Sosa in his honour. Supporters of the club purchased a house for Sosa, and he died shortly thereafter on March 3, 1971.
