Career
Dr. Bajpai is presently serving as Professor, Registrar and also as the Chairperson at the Centre for Criminology & Victimology at National Law University, Delhi. Prof. G.S. Bajpai is credited for making the National Law University, Delhi a world class institution in a very short period of time. He is also the President of Indian Society of Victimology Before joining National Law University, Delhi, he was serving (2007–2011) as Professor & Chairperson at the Centre for Criminal Justice Administration, National Law Institute University, Bhopal (MP). He also had positions at the Indian Institute of Public Administration, (1989) Bureau of Police Research & Development, (1989–1995) Punjab Police Academy, Punjab and Department of Criminology & Forensic Science, University of Saugar, MP.
Dr. Bajpai specializes in Criminology, Criminal Law & Criminal Justice Administration, Victimology & Legal Research Methodology. He has a teaching experience of more than 25 years at the Post-Graduation Level. He has organized and participated in more than fifty Conferences/ Seminars at National and International Level and has presented papers in various sessions of these seminars. Some of the signicant seminars/workshops include: (i) Participated and delivered Presidential Address in 6th International & 10th Biennial Conference of Indian Society of Victimology held at Institute of Law, Nirma University from 23-25 February 2017 (ii) Addressed the audience on ‘Victim Justice in a cross-cultural perspective’ in Trinational Winter University Conference (Interactions between Culture and Law in Europe and India) at NLU Delhi on 22nd February 2017 (iii) Chaired a session on ‘Victimization of Vulnerable Populations’ in 18th World Congress of Criminology organized by O.P. Dr. Bajpai has delivered a large number of lectures / talks at various institutions like LNJN National Institute of Criminology and Forensic Science; Indian Law Institute New Delhi; NALSAR Hyderabad; Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai; Judicial Academy, Jharkhand; Madhya Pradesh Police and at other reputed institutions on various contemporary topics of social and legal relevance. Dr. Bajpai acted as Jury Member in the ‘First Innocence Network Peoples’ Tribunal on Acquitted Innocents ‘held on 02nd October 2016 at the Constitution Club, New Delhi
Dr Bajpai has authored ten books and more than eighty papers, ten project reports and several monographs. His books (2011) 'Witness & Criminal Justice Systems' published from Lambert, Germany, 'Cyber Crime & Cyber Law', 'Situational Crime Prevention & Crime Reduction' and ‘Victimological Narratives on Gender Violence’(2014) have been well received. His recent publications namely (i) Victim Justice: A Paradigm Shift in Criminal Justice System in India, Thomson Reuters and (ii) Judgements that Shaped Indian Jurisprudence - Supreme Court Rulings in Perspective, Thomson Reuters have been acknowledged and well received by the legal community. He is also a regular contributor in various national newspapers and recently three of his articles were published in The Deccan Herald (Time to revisit IPC, Dilemma in rushing road accident victims to hospital’ and ‘A Legal System in Crisis without empirical data). He has also contributed an article on ‘Developing Protocols for Women Victims of Sexual Crimes’ in ‘Congress of the International Society of Criminology’ by Lexis-Nexis.
Dr. Bajpai is the Principal Investigator (PI) for the E-PG Pathshala Project for the subject Criminology. This project involves developing e-content for Post Graduate Courses in sixteen (16) subjects in Criminology under E- PG-Pathshala Project. Dr. Bajpai is also working on a Major Research Project awarded by UGC on 'Impact and Implementation of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2000'. He is also working on a project titled, 'Status of Crime Against Women & Gender Justice in Northern Regions of India' awarded by Indian Council for Social Science Research. Working as the Co Principal Investigator (Co-PI) Dr. Bajpai has successfully completed the e-PG Pathshala Project for the subject 'Law' involving development of econtent under a four quadrant approach for sixteen papers.
Dr. Bajpai has also undertaken consultancy assignments for various reputed national and international institutions. He is a member of a Advisory Group for Restorative Justice Study in Child Sexual Abuse Cases at Counsel to Secure Justice, New Delhi. He also functions as an advisor to School of Law, Galgotias University, Greater Noida. He has also served as expert member in Board for Curriculum Development in Criminology at National Institute of Criminology and Forensic Science, New Delhi.
Dr. Bajpai has also served in the Editorial Board of a number of reputed national and international journals such as 'International Journal of Contemporary Laws, RGNUL, Patiala, United World School of Law Journal, International Journal of Criminal Justice Sciences, International Perspectives in Victimology. etc
Dr. Bajpai has also been appointed as 'Amicus Curaie' by various courts in various occasions.

International Assignments
Dr Bajpai held several prestigious international assignments for advanced research in criminology, criminal law and criminal justice. He has been to the University of Paris (France) under Indo-French Cultural Exchange Programme ( 1999) to work on ‘Victim’s position in French criminal justice system’. He was also the recipient of prestigious Commonwealth Academic Staff Fellowship at the Department of Criminology, University of Leicester, UK for an advanced research and teaching ( in Crime reduction ) for the year 2003-04. Dr Bajpai also visited International Victimology Institute, Tokiwa University, Japan for delivering invited lectures in July 2007. Besides, he was also selected under the Indo-Russia Cultural Exchange programme to visit St. Petesburg ( 2007)and Indo-Hungarian Cultural Exchange Programme to visit educational institutions in Budapest (2009). Recently ( 2010), Prof. Bajpai was conferred a visiting fellowship under the Indo-NWO Exchange of scholars and under this visit he carried out significant research at the International Victimology Institute, Faculty of Law, University of Tilburg in the Netherlands. Apart from visiting the International Criminal Court at Hague, Prof Bajpai delivered key lectures in several universities like VU University, Amsterdam. He has also been identified by the Department of Criminal Justice John Jay College of Criminal Justice, New York, to author a case study on ‘Bhopal Gas Tragedy in the ‘International Crime & Justice Book ’ being published from the Cambridge press.
Recently, in the month of February 2016, Dr. Bajpai was invited by the Sheffield Hallam University, U.K. to be a part of a study tour on 'Police tackling violence against women and girl'. The delegation to Sheffield Hallam University consisted of five senior Police Officers and was led by Dr. Bajpai. This study trip gave an opportunity to the Indian police officers to learn about how the UK responds to women and girl victims of violence. Dr. Bajpai went to University of Wurzburg, Germany for a short term senior guest professorship under the ‘A New Passage to India Programme’ funded by the DAAD, (German Academic Exchange Service)in January 2015. Prof. Bajpai visited Centre for Criminology, University of Oxford and Sheffield Hallam University, U.K. in December 2015 for participating in the Seminar and Workshop titled, Criminological Perspectives on Sex Crimes in India at Centre for Criminology, University of Oxford, U.K. and ‘The Search for Victim Perspectives in Criminology in Post Delhi Gang Rape Period’ at Sheffield Hallam University, U.K. for addressing the audience on the subject,’ ‘Imparting Victimological Orientations To Sex Crimes’ at University of Oxford and ‘The Social and Contextual Narratives of Victimization of Women In India’ at Sheffield Hallam University, respectively. Dr. Bajpai Participated in Workshop on ‘Climate Change and Groundwater – Law and Policy Perspectives’ held at School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), London U.K. on 29-30 May 2015.
