Southern beauty in silent movies

Born Florence Brunet, she was educated in New York City. Later changing her name to Fritzi Brunette, she's remembered for her performances beginning in silent films and continuing until 1939, including a part as a secretary in Honeymoon In Bali. In 1942 Miss Brunette had an uncredited role in You're Telling Me. She played opposite Jack Holt and Mitchell Lewis, among other actors of her era. Prior to making Forgiven or the Jack o' Diamonds for the Stellar Photoplay Company, she was affiliated with the Victor Film Company. In the Selig Red Seal feature, Unto Those Who Sin (1916), Fritzi played a working girl of squalor, lured by wealth and luxury. In the end she discovers that material gain is not as valuable as the love of a pure man. Among the many movies in which she participated are The Woman Thou Gavest Me (1919), While Satan Sleeps (1922), Bells of San Juan (1922), and Camille of the Barbary Coast (1925).

Personal life

Fritzi was the former wife of Louisville, Kentucky real estate operator John E. Kley. They resided at 712 North Mansfield Avenue in Los Angeles, California. She was also the third wife of William Robert Daly, a fairly prolific silent film actor and director. Mr. Daly, who died c. 1935, directed Miss Brunette in many films. The emotional actress possessed one of the most detailed wardrobes in the movie industry. She wore eighteen lovely gowns in Unto Those Who Sin.

Fritzi Brunette died after an extended illness at the Motion Picture Country Home at the age of 53 in 1943. Funeral services were conducted from Pierce Brothers Hollywood Chapel, 5959 Santa Monica Boulevard. Cremation followed.
