The present clubhouse was erected in 1972 when 'The Green' competed in the Spartan League and used a pitch on the lower part of the park with the changing rooms standing where the car park is now. A few years later a new pitch was laid adjacent to the clubhouse and changing rooms added to the clubhouse building.

The reserve team joined the Combined Counties League in 1979 with the First Team switching to the league in 1981–82 at the same time as floodlights were first installed at the ground. The club competed in the league for 15 years during which time they won the Dan Air Elite Cup and the Reserves won the Division One Challenge Cup.

Due to the clubs' financial situation in 1994 they dropped into junior football. They were runners up in the Surrey Intermediate League (Western) in their first season, but were denied promotion to the Surrey Premier League. The next four seasons saw a period of rebuilding and repayment of debts. In 1999 the club were finally accepted into the Surrey Premier League after finishing runners up in the league and winning the League Cup. Off the field, new floodlights were installed and a boardroom created within the clubhouse.

A three season spell followed in the renamed Surrey County Senior League which saw the club finish fourth, sixth and runners up which allowed them to attain promotion back to the Combined Counties League where they have remained ever since. Season 2007–08 was the club's most successful to date finishing 6th and amassing 63 points.

During 2005–06 season major ground improvements commenced with the fixed barrier being extended to all four sides of the pitch and a public address system purchased. Despite the improvements however, the club was one of several demoted to Division 1 to make way for seven clubs from the disbanded Isthmian League Division 2.

Recent History has seen the club gain promotion to the CCL Premier Division under the management of Paul Miles. The club then found themselves back in division 1 after a run of losses in the 2014/2015 season and although Joint managers Phil Ruggles and Andrew Clements tried their best they weren't able to clear the club to safety.

Phil Ruggles continued as manager whilst Andrew Clements went onto another challenge, this saw the club competing for a top 6 place in what was a transitional season, however the departure of Manager Phil Ruggles to Eversley after christmas changed the complexion of the season. Assistant Manager Ian Messenger and Player/Coach Danny Perks took over for the remainder of the season and with tough challenges ahead of them they were still able to guide the team to the Final of Surrey Premier Cup where Frimley beaten by Nottsborough for the trophy.

Behind the scenes Dan Huxley was appointed as the new 1st team manager and work started on preparation for the 2016/2017 season. Frimley Green parted company with Dan Huxley in October 2016 and the club welcomed joint managers John Cook and Jamie Daltrey with Steve Cavey as 1st team coach.

The 2016/2017 season also saw the return of a reserve side, known as Frimley Green FC Development Managed by Ally Innes and also the appointment of Graham Purser who will be managing the New Under 18 side in the 2017/2018 season.
