The Forum of Indian Food Importers (FIFI), is an association of Indian businessmen and food sector stakeholders, founded in 2009. It is a non- profit and non-government organisation (registered under section 8 of the India Company Act, 2013,defining non-profit laws of India),which represents over 15,000 food importers, retailers, hoteliers, and distributors from over 67 countries. FIFI maintains a data bank on the food and beverage trade and provides a knowledge network in India through its interactions with government & non-government agencies, embassies, agricultural experts and international chambers. The chamber has in-direct membership of over 20,000 from various stakeholders in food and beverage trade and is intensively involved in developing fair trade practices in food business in India. With Pan- India presence FIFI has offices in all major metropolitan cities in India and has its secretariat office at PHD House New Delhi.

FIFI provides comprehensive knowledge on Indian F&B market, backward integration, cold chain logistics, business enhancements, market exploration, organized retail studies, online retail evaluations, and food safety. FIFI which contributes buying power of USD 3.7 billion of total imports into India aims at education the members and associate members on the regulations and bridges the gap between trade and several Government of India agencies like Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, Ministry of Consumer Welfare, Ministry of Food Processing, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Commerce, and others. The business of importing food is relatively new in India and consumer awareness of imported foods is limited. In 2015, India’s imports of consumer oriented food products were valued at over USD 18 billion, up from USD 1.7 billion in 2009. FIFI has worked closely with FSSAI in getting 10,000 additives in line with CODEX added to the existing regulations,

Received approval from FSSAI to run cold-storage facilities to facilitate movement of goods requiring controlled temperature,
Has been enlisted by India Trade Promotion Organisation to be an associate in organizing AAHAR the largest food show in India along with various Government bodies like MoFPI and others,

Corporate social responsibility
FIFI has been involved in various CSR activities including donation to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund to provide relief to the victims of the Nepal Earthquake.
To promote the young and upcoming talent in Food sector FIFI joined hands with ICF to award the chefs and recognize them at national level, which includes a cash reward and introduction to various international range of food and beverages.
FIFI has direct membership of over 15,000 food importers, retailers, hoteliers, and distributors and in-direct membership of about 20,000 from over 67 countries in India.
The membership is open to any company, firm, or individual in India engaged in food and beverage trade and/ or allied sectors. For international players having an operating office in India, are eligible for the associate membership. The members get access to updated regulations and notifications related to the food business trade pertaining to Indian scenario in timely manner and also get opportunities to interactive sessions with various Government bodies and preferential entry at various international forums and trade shows.
