The following is a list of squads for each nation competing in men's football at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Each nation submitted a squad of 17 players. However, as FIFA still did not want the Olympics to rival the World Cup, a compromise was struck that allowed teams from Africa, Asia, Oceania and CONCACAF to field their strongest professional sides, while restricting squads from UEFA and CONMEBOL regions to only field players who had not yet played in a World Cup. This benefitted teams such as Canada and Egypt, who both eventually reached the quarter-finals of the 1984 Olympic tournament.
In addition, three European Eastern Bloc countries which had qualified for the tournament (Czechoslovakia, East Germany and Soviet Union) withdrew prior to the tournament as part of the Soviet-led boycott of the 1984 Summer Olympics. These were then replaced by Italy, Norway and West Germany respectively.
