Tănase is a Romania international, gaining his first cap for the full side in 2014, in a friendly match against Albania.
Steaua București
On 8 August 2016, FC Steaua București transferred Tănase for a reported €1.5 million, with the player penning a five-year deal with a €30 million buyout clause and Viitorul being entitled to a 25% percentage of a player's future transfer fee.
International career
On 31 May 2014, Tănase played his first international game for the Romania senior team in a 1–0 win against Albania, coming on as a substitute for Alexandru Maxim in the 83rd minute.
Style of play
Tănase favours playing as a second striker, but he can also be deployed as a winger or a centre-forward. Former Romanian international Gheorghe Hagi regarded him as one of the most promising talents of his generation.
