Route description

State Road 818 begins at the corner of Griffin Road and Flamingo Road (SR 823), with SR 818 paralleling the South New River Canal, heading east in a residential suburban area, forming the border between Davie to the north and Cooper City to the south from its western terminus until an intersection with Pine Island Road, about three miles from the western terminus. At that point, Griffin Road fully enters Davie, and intersects with University Drive (SR 817) a half mile east of Pine Island Road. SR 818 continues east through Davie, having an interchange with Florida's Turnpike (SR 91) before a curve dips Griffin Road slightly south and away from the parallel canal, and leaves Davie at the intersection with US 441/SR 7, entering Hollywood east of the intersection, entering a dense residential area on both sides. Griffin Road enters Dania Beach, retaining the dense residential areas until the interchange with Interstate 95. East of I-95, it forms the southern border of the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, with residential areas lining the road to the south as it approaches its eastern terminus at Federal Highway (US 1) at the southeastern end of the airport.

West of SR 823, Griffin Road continues as a locally maintained road, with interchanges with Interstate 75 (SR 93) in Southwest Ranches, US 27 (SR 25) in Weston, and ends in Everglades Holiday Park in the Everglades Wildlife Management Area adjacent to Weston. Despite local maintenance, state route shields still appear infrequently west of SR 823. Including one at the official terminus' intersection indicating SR 818 heads in both directions when in fact it only heads east. A directional state shield also exists at the route's former terminus of US 27.

Major intersections

The entire route is in Broward County.
