Early in 2009, Nicholas Ximenez, a student, revived a classmate suffering from an overdose. School administrators credit his actions as the single most important factor in saving his life.
The Food Fight of '08
While a portion of the school was under construction, a daily food fight began to break out as students walked from their cafeteria back to the south side of campus. The food fights began to grow in intensity and frequency until a bystander was injured by an orange being propelled into her face at sonic speeds. The administration came down swiftly and promptly, setting a zero tolerance policy for food fighting. This led to a period known as The Food Fight Cease-fire era. Unfortunately, this era of peace and stability lasted less than 24 hours. The day after the cease fire was introduced, tensions began rising when an increased amount of staff and faculty, including the Principals, were monitoring the site. At approximately 11:46 AM, on the walk back to the south side of campus, an extended period of silence occurred followed by 1 single milk carton flying in the air. This led to one of the biggest, bloodiest food battles in the History of The United States. It's estimated up to 1 ton of food was used in the battle and up to 33 students were injured. There were no reported deaths.
