Flintshire County Council is the unitary local authority for the present-day Welsh administrative county of Flintshire (not to be confused with the historic Flintshire), one of the administrative subdivisions of Wales.

Political makeup

As of 2012, the council is governed by a coalition between Labour and a group of some of the Independents. Labour is the largest political group within the council, followed by the Independents, the Liberal Democrats, and the New Independents.

Electoral divisions

The county borough is divided into 57 electoral wards returning 70 councillors. Few communities in Flintshire are coterminous with electoral wards. The following table lists council wards, communities and associated geographical areas. Communities with a community council are indicated with a '*':
