First Mile is a commercial recycling company established in 2003 by entrepreneur Dr. Bruce Bratley.

History

The First Mile head office and main depot is located in London, with another depot in Birmingham. First Mile recycles around 10,000 tonnes of London's commercial waste.

First Mile were crowned Innovator of the Year at the CBI Growing Business Awards 2012

In November 2012, First Mile were awarded a Best Practice Exchange Award from the Guardian newspaper Small Business Network

First Mile were named Recycling Business of the Year 2012 at the letsrecycle.com Awards for Excellence in Recycling and Waste Management

The company was the EMAP UK National Recycling Company of the Year in 2009

First Mile were voted one of the top 25 Cleantech companies in Europe in 2010 and 2012

First Mile have also delivered feasibility trials for WRAP; a UK government waste advisory scheme.

Web Application

First Mile own a cloud application 'Enqix' written on the Microsoft .Net framework. Microsoft wrote a case-study on the application in January, 2008.
