Background

Born and raised in London, England, Fionn O Lochlainn is the grandson of Irish Traditional collector, publisher and musician Colm O Lochlainn, and the son of Irish musician and photographer Ruan O Lochlainn and Scottish and English photographer Jackie Mackay.

Career

Fionn O Lochlainn's career as a musician includes performances and recordings with many artists, including Seal, Des'ree, Joe Cocker, Billy Bragg, Jason Rebello, Oleta Adams, Shara Nelson, Andrea Bocelli, Youssou N'Dour, Diane Birch, Cindy Blackman, Tony DeMarco, Paddy Keenan and Donal Lunny. While with Lunny he played with Sinead O'Connor, Paul Brady, Sharon Shannon, Liam O Maonlai and Tommy Peoples. His work with Lunny culminated in the acclaimed album Coolfin (1998).

O Lochlainn was producer of and instrumentalist on "Just Perfect" by Tracy Bonham, which appeared on the Grammy-nominated Bridget Jones's Diary movie soundtrack (2001).

O Lochlainn was a founding member of the band Hookah Brown with Bill Dobrow, John Hogg and Rich Robinson, with whom he toured in the US and Canada. Hookah Brown broke up in 2003.

O Lochlainn released his satirically titled debut album Spawn of the Beast in 2007.
