Staged in Montréal's Gay Village area, it is open to all audiences, gay and heterosexual.
A major event of Fierté Montréal includes the annual défilé (Montréal Pride Parade) on the major René-Lévesque Boulevard in Montéal. Around 500,000 people took part in various Fierté Montréal events in 2015.
The event was established in 2007 after the city's prior Pride festival, Divers/Cité, repositioned itself as a general arts and music festival.
