The Federation of International Trade Associations (FITA) based in Reston, Virginia and New York, New York USA was founded in 1984 by Nelson Joyner to foster the international trade community providing benefits and services. It fosters international trade by seeking to strengthen the role of trade associations and bi-lateral chamber of commences. This was the mission of Nelson Joyner In 1994, Nelson's Director of Business Development, created affinity programs to generate non-due revenue with Fortune 500 Corporations including 1992 Sprint (7 years) endorsement headed by Jessica Cannon, key negations development executive. FITA Services, a private for-profit company was established. Such members as The National Export Companies were earning over $100k yearly from the partner programs implemented as the affinity communication contract was creatively using member association and Global Business Roundtable. With retirement, Nelson Joyner gave Barney Lahrer the portion of webmaster and previous secretary Kim Park the organization which now has anp the United States, Mexico and Canada. FITA is the strategic partner of the United States Commercial Service for e-commerce. The United States Commercial Service, UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) and Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) have public-private partnership (PPP) agreements with FITA under which they contribute market research and other reports on GlobalTrade.net. Similar agreements are in effect with NASBITE International, the European International Business Academy and other associations.

Market Reports and Country Profiles for International Trade

In June 2009, the Federation of International Trade Associations signed a public-private partnership with the United States Commercial Service, the trade promotion arm of the United States Department of Commerce (DoC), thereby sanctioning the publication of the DoC’s market studies on GlobalTrade.net. In August 2010, FITA signed another similar PPP with UK Trade & Investment.

GlobalTrade.net is a knowledge resource service where experts in international trade can post their articles; the content is vetted by an editing team. Content includes international trade experts' analyses, market surveys, tips, white papers, country profiles, experts’ views, webinars, news flows, video tutorials and presentations.

Business Service Providers for International Trade

Along with the publication of market surveys and other expert content, GlobalTrade.net contains a free database of business service providers useful for importers and exporters. The site’s business service providers include international marketing consultants, trade finance companies, banks, freight forwarders, quality control firms, lawyers, accountants, customs brokers, international trade instructors and insurance providers for their international operations. GlobalTrade.net allows business service providers to create a personal profile and to facilitate contact with the international trade market; all content posted by experts and global trade service providers is vetted. GlobalTrade.net was launched on November 15, 2010.

Professionals use the website to find information and business service providers for their international trade operations. China, the United States, India, the United Kingdom and Singapore are presently the most popular countries. Categories of service providers include legal, trade support organizations, transportation and logistics, taxes and accounting, marketing and communications, sales and distribution and travel services.

International Partner Marketplaces

FITA has signed partnership accords with three major B2B marketplaces: Alibaba.com, Kompass and Thomasnet: ranked 1st, 13th and 18th in the world respectively by bridgat.com (December 2010).
