For the majority of this road, there is a Union Pacific Railroad line that runs parallel to it; the railroad is the dividing line between the "Main Campus" and the "West Campus" of Texas A&M University.

A historical marker, located north of Millican, is adjacent to the road.

History

FM 2154 was designated in 1953 from FM 60 in College Station to Welborn. In 1958, FM 2154 extended to Millican. In 1964, FM 2154 extended to SH 6. IN 1989, FM 2154 extended north to FM 1179. In 1991, a new one way pair was created between FM 2154 (Welborn Rd) and Farm to Market Road 3518(Finfeather Road) between FM 60 and FM 1179, and FM 3518 was cancelled. In 1995, the section of FM 2154 from FM 2818 to FM 1179 became an urban road. However, since the conditions for extension of FM 2154 were not met, FM 2154 was truncated to FM 60.
