Farhangian University (Persian: دانشگاه فرهنگیان‎‎) is a university of teacher education and human resources development for Iranian Ministry of Education. It was established in 2012, with the approval of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution and the integrataion of all teacher education centers in Iran. The central organization of university is in Tehran and has 64 branches (PARDIS) and 34 sub-branches. The head is Mahmoud Mehrmohammadi.

Campuses/branches

Farhangian University has branches located in the provinces. Each of the mentioned centers includes some sub-branches. At present, more than 98 branches are operational and give educational services to teacher students all over the country. More than 70000 teacher students are also receiving education in Farhangian University.

Background

After the approval of the Supreme Cultural Revolution Council in 2011, and the aggregation of all teacher training centers, Farhangian University was established and began its activities in January 2012. It is an umbrella organization with around 100 branches and 70000 enrolled teacher students throughout the country.

The branches are teacher education centers that existed long before the university organization took shape. Farhangian University, affiliated to the Ministry of Education andrun by the board of trustees,has legal, financial, and administrative autonomy.
