The company was founded in 2013 by current CEO Nyree Corby. Its headquarters was based in Sydney. up until March 2016 when founder CEO Nyree Corby moved operations to Los Angeles following a Series A investment from FirstMark Capital.

Fame and Partners is the first mass retailer to offer atelier service to its customers and have bespoke designs made to order in approximately 2-5 days. Each Fame and Partners dress can be customized in one of four ways, each a new take on the original design. Customers can choose from more than 20 different color variations and can alter the skirt length to fit their measurements. The pieces are handmade by artisan seamstresses. Since Fame and Partners does not mass-produce their designs, their production model is more eco-friendly and less wasteful than typical fashion retailers'.
