Hillary Greene Series

Faith Martin is best known for writing a series of books set around Oxfordshire CID, with the starring character being DI Hillary Greene. Hillary Greene lives on a narrow boat, and this is a link to why all of the books in her series - currently 14 - have the word 'narrow' in the title. Whereas Inspector Morse spent his time solving the surprisingly large number of murder cases in the city of Oxford, DI Hillary Greene restricts herself to the towns and villages in the north of Oxfordshire, where there also seem to be a large number of such cases.

The Hillary Greene books were fairly successful when they were first released by Faith Martin, although they never really got much attention. However, in 2008, Blackstar Crime republished 'A Narrow Escape' and the book was a huge success. It was a major success and they have now released 'On the Straight and Narrow' in paper back too.
