Fairfield Union High School is a public high school in Lancaster, Ohio with an enrollment of 645 students. It is the only high school in the Fairfield Union Local Schools district, which consolidates three communities: Bremen, Pleasantville, and Rushville. Title IX complaint
In April 2000, a West Rushville mother of a FUHS student filed a Title IX complaint to the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights, claiming discrimination because girls basketball matches were not played on the more desirable Friday night. Under Title IX, schools that don't provide equal opportunity and treatment to both boys' and girls' sports can lose federal funding. The complaint was successful, and the district was required to rotate boys and girls matches so each had an equal number of prime-time matches.
