Fahd al rasheed building a new city from the ground up


Fahd Al-Rasheed (Arabic: فهد الرشيد ) is the Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Emaar the Economic City (EEC), the master developer of King Abdullah Economic City, the world’s first publicly-listed city. Previously, he was the CFO and Deputy Governor of the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA) from 2006-2007. Prior to working at SAGIA, Al-Rasheed also led strategic initiatives in investments and corporate finance for Saudi Aramco (1999-2003).

Education

Al-Rasheed was educated at Washington University in St. Louis, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He also holds an MBA from the Stanford Business School and completed the Advanced Management Development Program in Real Estate at Harvard University and Global Leadership and Public Policy for 21st-Century Leaders at Harvard Kennedy School. Al-Rasheed was honored as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2011.

In his current position as GCEO of Emaar the Economic City (EEC), Al-Rasheed is leading the development of King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC), a USD 100 billion project on the Red Sea coast of Saudi Arabia with a planned population capacity of two million people. KAEC is one of the largest private sector projects in the world.

He oversaw the development of King Abdullah Port, the first privately-funded deep-water container port in the region, and has attracted more than 120 global and regional companies to establish operations in KAEC. The Industrial Valley at KAEC is the fastest growing logistics and manufacturing hub in the Middle East.

In addition to industrial and commercial investment, Al-Rasheed is also leading the development of a large number of residential and leisure projects to transform KAEC into one of the focal tourism destinations in the region.

Al-Rasheed is the Founding Chairman of the non-profit Red Sea Foundation, a Geneva-based NGO think-tank established in 2016 to support the development of the Red Sea region, the largest and fastest-growing emerging market in the world with a population of 650 million people increasing to 1.3 billion by 2050.

Al-Rasheed is also the Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Prince Mohamed Bin Salman College of Business and Entrepreneurship, Saudi Arabia’s first educational institution to focus on entrepreneurship and leadership. The College has been developed in partnership with the Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Foundation, Babson Global and Lockheed Martin.

Al-Rasheed serves on the boards of several organizations including EEC, King Abdullah Port, Harvard Kennedy School Dean’s Council, Petromin, Saudi Airlines Catering Company, the New Cities Foundation, and the Foundation Board of the Global Shapers of the World Economic Forum.
