Fabio Albergati (1538–1606) was an Italian diplomat and writer, known for political theory and as a moralist.

He was born in Bologna, and was in the service of Jacopo Boncompagni.
Works
He wrote against duelling in 1583, at a time when his patron was active against banditry. He wrote a very detailed attack on Jean Bodin's theoretical dismissal of mixed constitutions. He equated reason of state with Machiavellianism. His La Republica regia (published 1627) was a counter to Machiavelli.
Family
His children included Cardinal Niccolò Albergati-Ludovisi.
