FC Lokomotiv 1929 Sofia (Bulgarian: ФК Локомотив 1929 София) is a Bulgarian football club from the city of Sofia, which currently competes in Bulgaria's 2nd football league, the Second League. They plays its home matches at the local Lokomotiv Stadium.

Foundation

After the dissolving Lokomotiv Sofia, some of the legends of the team including Ivan Vasilev, Boycho Velichkov and Anton Velkov formed a new club in A OFG Sofia (city) - north (4th division). The youth academy is moved to the new club. Some other former players are going back to the club as well as young players from the academy are selected to the new first squad.

2016–present: Professional football

On 29 July 2016, team was officially approved for the new Bulgarian Second League, skipping one level in from the Bulgarian football together with Tsarsko Selo Sofia. However, the team cannot be promoted to the First League until 2018-19 season due to the rule that a team can play in the highest level only after 3 seasons of existence.

Supporters

Lokomotiv has a group of loyal fans known as Iron Brigades (Bulgarian: Железни бригади) who supported the team in the lowest levels of the Bulgarian football.Lokomotive's biggest rivalry is with Slavia Sofia. Lokomotive fans maintain friendship with Spartak Varna and austrian FavAC.

Foreign players

Up to five non-EU nationals can be registered and given a squad number for the first team in the A PFG; however, only three can be used during a match day. Those non-EU nationals with European ancestry can claim citizenship from the nation their ancestors came from. If a player does not have European ancestry, he can claim Bulgarian citizenship after playing in Bulgaria for 5 years.
