History

Football in Târgoviște started with FCM Târgoviște, which was dissolved in summer 2015. In 2010 a new team was founded by Romanian footballer Gheorghe Popescu and named FC Chinidia after the Chindia Tower which is located near the stadium and was at the beginning a football academy like Gheorghe Hagi Viitorul Constanța. In 2013 Popescu left the club. The biggest accomplishment the team has ever made was promoting twice in Liga II, by winning Liga III. The best position in Liga II was a 7th place in 2011–12 Liga II, until they finished on the podium, the third place in 2015–16 Liga II.
