European Bat lyssavirus 2 (EBLV-2) is one of three rabies virus-like agents of the genus Lyssavirus found in Daubenton's bats (Myotis daubentonii) in Britain. Human fatalities have occurred: the naturalist David McRae who was bitten by a Daubenton's bat in Scotland, became infected with EBLV-2a and died in November 2002.

EBLV-2 is a negative-sense, single-stranded RNA virus.

Transmission

EBLV-2 is primarily transmitted through bat bite and demonstrated a low-level of transmission via aerosolization of saliva, urine and feces.
