Etyen Mahçupyan (born 1950 in Istanbul) is a Turkish journalist and writer. From 2007 to 2010 he was the editor-in-chief of Agos, the Armenian community's weekly newspaper. He also contributes to the Turkish Islamic-democrat dailies Sabah and Yeni Şafak.

Etyen Mahçupyan was born in Istanbul and attended Robert College. He continued his studies at Boğaziçi University where he attained a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering. Mahçupyan then studied at Ankara University’s School of Political Sciences for a MA in International Economics. Realizing that earning a living would entail working under a manager, he studied business management, and finance—to get ahead, professionally and intellectually. He learned the Armenian language in primary school.
In October 2014, he was appointed as an advisor to Ahmet Davutoğlu the Prime Minister of Turkey from the liberal-conservative AKP.
In April 2015, Mahçupyan retired from his post as advisor. The announcement came a day after he openly acknowledged the Armenian Genocide. However he stated that he was retired by the system automatically on March 9th, when he turned 65, and continues doing same work but without being paid.

Mahçupyan is a Armenian Turkish who comes from a Catholic family. His surname derives from his great-grandfather's nickname, "Mahçup", meaning shy, embarrassed, or reticent.
