Estadio Regional de Antofagasta, officially Estadio Regional Calvo y Bascuñán, is a multi-use stadium in Antofagasta, Antofagasta Region, Chile. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of Deportes Antofagasta. The stadium was built in 1964, and holds 21,178 people since its renovation in 2013. It was one of eight venues used for the 2015 Copa América.

History

The idea of building a stadium for the city was born in 1955, with the intention that it could function as host for the shield of the 1962 FIFA World Cup in Chile. The initiative was mainly led by professionals from the city of Antofagasta; Miguel Bascuñán Pavez and Alberto Calvo Nieto, who formed the "Pro-Construction Committee" in 1958 with the aim of concretizing the project.
