Essex TV is a British IPTV channel in Essex, England, which launched at 9:30am on the 28th April 2016. The channel transmits local news, current affairs, sports, arts, events and entertainment.

Contents

The channel is set to move onto Sky in early 2018 under a reported £1.2million re-launch budget, an EPG slot has been purchased to this end.

History

Essex TV is owned by Viktor Tokarev, Benjamin Harris and consortium B.E Group.

Their senior management team consists of Mark Watson-Gandy who is the current Chairman and Tim Tiernan the current Chief Executive. Other current company directors include Alin Stacescu (Creative Director), Jamie Austin (Chief Operations Officer) and Matteo Zambelli (Company Director).

On the 27th of December, an article on World News Network reported that the channel was up for sale, reportedly having being valued for £675,000.

Programmes

In the run up to the 2016 UK EU referendum. Essex TV produced a documentary named 'Is Essex IN or OUT' released on the 20th of June, featuring Boris Johnson, local public figures and various members of the public from Essex.

In July 2016, it was revealed that Essex TV had become the first media organization to be granted permission to film King Kigeli V of Rwanda during a UK visit as part of a documentary that was being produced about his life by the channel.

On 15th August 2016, Essex County Standard reported that the channel had commissioned a show hosted by former X Factor contestant Stevi Ritchie dubbed 'Stevi Ritchie Takes On Essex.'

Since the channel first launched, Essex TV has commissioned and shown a wide variety of shows which include Loose Lads, Up North, iCar Review and Stagey Live.

In December 2016, it was announced that the Lord Lieutenant of Essex, John Petre would deliver a Christmas message for the people of Essex. The message was initially broadcast on Christmas Eve.
