Erica Fernandes is an Indian film actress who has appeared in Kannada, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu language films. She is best known for playing Dr. Sonakshi "Sona" Bose, the female protagonist of the critically acclaimed Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi and for her own YouTube channel about how-to and style.Prior to her film career she took part in Miss India 2011 beauty pageant,finishing in top 10. Apart from this Erica has her own YouTube channel where she uploads videos related to makeup and skincare.

Biography
Erica was born and raised in Kurla, Mumbai. She belongs to the Konkani Mangalorean Catholic community and is the daughter of Ralph Fernandes, a model and interior designer, and Lavina. She did her schooling from Holy Cross High School, Kurla; she completed her pre-degree course from SIES College, Sion. She had enrolled for a BA degree from St Andrew's College, Bandra; however, she discontinued the same to pursue a career in modelling.
Career
Since 2010, she has taken part in pageants and notably won Pantaloons Femina Miss Maharashtra 2011 amongst other titles.
Erica auditioned to play the lead role in S. J. Surya's Isai but was not picked for the venture. She subsequently was selected to play the lead role in the bilingual Virattu / Dega, featuring alongside newcomer Sujiv, son of the director Kumar.
Director Sasi had seen pictures of Erica at Meera Kathiravan’s office, with whom she was shooting another film, when he was casting for Ainthu Ainthu Ainthu. Sasi offered her a role of a software engineer in the film alongside Bharath, who plays her love interest. Due to the delay of her other films, Ainthu Ainthu Ainthu became her first release. In 2014, she made her debut in Kannada with the film Ninnindale featuring alongside Puneet Rajkumar, which was followed by her debut Hindi film Babloo Happy Hai, directed by Nila Madhab Panda. In February 2014, Virattu eventually released. Its Telugu version however was pushed to late 2014 and Galipatam became her first Telugu release. The film received decent reviews from critics, who also noted that Erica "does a good job" and "shows maturity in her acting".
Her delayed film with Kathiravan, Vizhithiru is likely to release in 2016 and sees her feature amongst an ensemble cast including Krishna, Venkat Prabhu, and Sara Arjun.
Erica worked in the TV show Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi opposite actor Shaheer Sheikh. The show aired from 29 February 2016 to 24 August 2017. The show, known for its realistic and relatable content, became popular online as well and garnered an IMDb rating of 9.4/10 for a long time, making it one of the highest ranked Indian television shows on the website. Fernandes gained huge popularity and a strong fan base.
