The building was originally known as the Brother Athanasius Sports Complex, named after Br. Lucian Athanasius, a past president of De La Salle College Manila. In January 2003, the university received a P50 million donation from its alumnus Enrique Razon, Jr. for sports development, which included funds for scholarships and improvement of physical facilities. From the total amount, P25 million was used to fully equip and air-condition the 9th floor gymnasium of the PE and Sports Complex, P20 million was allotted for athletic scholarships, and P5 million was used for a sports solidarity fund. The building was renamed in February 2003 as the Enrique M. Razon Sports Center after the late father of Razon who was an alumnus and athlete of De La Salle.

Facilities

The nine-storey building is served by three passenger elevators that are located by the entrance. The ground floor houses the clinic and an Olympic-size swimming pool as well as its complementing locker rooms and shower areas. The second floor houses a bookstore, a canteen, as well as a balcony area for swimming pool spectators.

The third to sixth floors of the building are parking areas that can accommodate 345 cars, with room for 700 once hydraulic lifts are installed. The third floor parking area is reserved for faculty members only. The seventh floor houses the basketball, volleyball, and table tennis courts, the offices and lounge area of the Physical Education Department of the College of Education, and a classroom. The 8th floor houses classrooms, dance and martial arts studio, and a track and field oval/balcony area for the 7th floor.

The tenth-floor gymnasium can be accessed only through stairs and houses another set of classrooms, dance studios, martial arts dojo, as well as a weight training gym.. Recently all the La Salle Green Archers championship banners and the retired numbers of Lim Eng Beng (#14, basketball), Manilla Santos (#14, volleyball), Ren-Ren Ritualo (#4, basketball) and Kurt Bachmann (#33, basketball) were raised to the rafters on this gym.
