History

The website was founded in 2005 as a classifieds website by Boris Metraux and Wendy Jordan, and has offices in Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Bern, Switzerland. In 2015, the company received funding from Malaysia’s Frontier Digital Ventures.

Classifieds

The site has online classifieds marketplace for the real estate markets of Central America. The website allows users to post rental and sales ads for their property, including photographs to depict the various aspects of the property. In 2014, for example, the site hosted ads for speculative property for lots near the new canal in Nicaragua. In addition to real estate ads, the site allows users to sell anything else they would like, posting ads for their items for free on the site, specifically second-hand items and cars. Deal Street Asia wrote that its listings include “cars, real estate, jobs, electronic and other classified listings like education, pets and animals, business and music and art.” Encuentra24 also operates as a job search website, hosting ads for employment from company users, including jobs for those without a high level of education.

User base

In late 2014, the site had about 4.1 million unique visitors and about 80 million page views per month, with a registered userbase of about 840,000. Over the span of the year, the website received about 50 million visitors. The site is also cited by foreign publications for Central American real estate information. Additionally, Encuentra24 itself tracks the home prices and real estate trends in Central America.
