Early years

Ely Dagher was born in 1985, in Beirut, Lebanon. He received a Masters of Arts in contemporary art theory and new media from the prestigious Goldsmiths College, London University. Previously he had received a Bachelors in graphic arts and illustration as well as a Bachelors in animation at the Academie Libanaise Des Beaux Arts in Lebanon.
Career
His film Waves '98 won the Short Film Palme d'Or at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, becoming the first Lebanese film to ever receive the award.
Waves '98 has since won several other awards and was also selected at Sundance FIlm festival, Toronto international film festival, Dubai International film festival, AFI and others .
Ely Dagher is and artist/film-maker working with different mediums and producing work that intertwines on different levels. His work focuses on the layering and constructing of multiple narratives across film, painting and installation.
Ely is currently working on his first feature film.
