Ellipse Fuji

Design and development

The Fuji was designed as an intermediate hang glider for local recreational and cross country flying. Built in four sizes, it is also suitable for adding a motorized harness for powered hang glider operations.

Typical of the series, the Fuji 15 is made from aluminum tubing, with the wing covered in Dacron sailcloth. Its 10 m (32.8 ft) span wing is cable braced from a single kingpost. The nose angle is 122° and the aspect ratio is 6.6:1. The model number indicates the approximate wing area in square metres.

Operational history

The Fuji 15 is used on the DTA Alizés nanotrike and the Electravia Electro Trike.

Fuji 13

Extra-small sized model with a wing area of 13.5 m² (145 sq ft), wing span of 9.2 m (30.2 ft), aspect ratio of 6.3:1 and a pilot hook-in weight range of 40 to 60 kg (88 to 132 lb).

Fuji 14

Small sized model with a wing area of 14 m² (150 sq ft), wing span of 9.6 m (31.5 ft), aspect ratio of 7.1:1 and a pilot hook-in weight range of 55 to 75 kg (121 to 165 lb).

Fuji 15

Medium sized model with a wing area of 15.5 m² (167 sq ft), wing span of 10 m (32.8 ft), aspect ratio of 6.6:1 and a pilot hook-in weight range of 70 to 85 kg (154 to 187 lb).

Fuji 16

Large sized model with a wing area of 16.5 m² (178 sq ft), wing span of 10 m (32.8 ft), aspect ratio of 6.3:1 and a pilot hook-in weight range of 70 to 100 kg (154 to 220 lb).

Large sized model, structurally reinforced for motorized flight, with a wing area of 16.5 m² (178 sq ft), wing span of 10 m (32.8 ft), aspect ratio of 6.3:1 and a pilot hook-in weight range of 70 to 100 kg (154 to 220 lb).
