Elizabeth Renzetti is a Canadian journalist and novelist, best known for her columns, her foreign reporting from Europe and the United States, her arts and culture reporting and editing positions with Canada's Globe and Mail newspaper.

Her columns are published on page 2 of the Saturday Globe and Mail and on the Op-ed page of the Monday paper; she also writes frequent feature articles and longer articles for magazines in the United States and Canada. In 2014 she published her first novel, Based on a True Story, with House of Anansi Press.
Biography
Renzetti was born in Toronto to second-generation Italian immigrants, and grew up in the Bathurst-Eglinton and St. James Town neighbourhoods. She studied journalism at Ryerson University, and after working at the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as an editor of the Ontario edition of Hansard, she began working as an editor and writer at the Globe and Mail. She soon became the editor of the paper's Books section and the author of the paper's "Under 30" column, devoted to the culture of the then-novel Generation X. She later served as an arts writer and opera critic. In the late 1990s, she left to work as an editor of Elm Street, an "intelligent women's magazine" founded by the journalist Stevie Cameron. She served as its editor-in-chief in 1999, until she departed for Los Angeles, where she worked as a freelance magazine journalist for three years. In 2002, she returned to the Globe and Mail as editor of the paper's Arts section, a position she held until 2004, where she joined the paper's European Bureau in London. After returning to Toronto in 2013, she launched a new career as a twice-weekly columnist, and published her first novel, Based on a True Story, a work of humorous fiction about celebrities and journalists in London and Los Angeles.
Renzetti holds British and Canadian citizenship. She is married to the writer Doug Saunders.
