Biography

Elisha Banai was born to Orly Silbersatz and Yuval Banay in Tel Aviv. Brother to Amalia and Sophie. His grandfather is Yossi Banai. Banai was exposed to music from an early age, and as a child was watching the performances of his father's band, Mashina.

In 2007, he joined the composition "Got No Shame", an Israeli punk rock band in English of which Elisha was a member until 2010.

In 2010, his band Elisha Banai and the Forty Thieves began working on an album produced by Eyal "Zuri" Even-Tzur. On April 27, 2010, the album's first single, "Barcelona", was released. The song was very successful and achieved over 20,000 views on YouTube. On August 1, 2011, The second album's single called "Kmo Kulam" ("Like Everyone Else") was released, and at November 8, their third single, "Haver Hadash" ("New Boyfriend"), came out.

In July 2011, Banai and his band did the warm up for Jane's Addiction at the Pic.Nic festival. In June 2014, Elisha and the Forty Thieves shared the stage with Soundgarden at the RockN'Roller festival. Banai lives in Tel Aviv, where he also works as a cook at Jonathan Roshfeld's restaurant, Yavne Montefiore.

Banai appeared in a short film, "Tank Full of Petrol", a futuristic spaghetti western with bikers.
