Closely connected to the Zürich Opera House, Elena Moșuc has constantly performed to all the important opera houses and festivals in Europe (Barcelona, Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Vienna, Salzburg, Paris, London, Milan, Rome, Venice, Verona, Brussels, Amsterdam), United States (New York Metropolitan, Dallas), Japan and China. Moșuc also appears regularly at the Romanian National Opera houses.

Biography

Born in Iași, Romania, Moșuc educated at the George Enescu Conservatory, and before completing her studies she started singing at the Iași Romanian National Opera. In 1990, she received the first prize at the ARD International Music Competition in Munich, which opened the way for an international career.

At the Zürich Opera House, she appeared in various roles, among others as the Queen of the Night, Konstanze, Donna Anna, Lucia di Lammermoor, Linda di Chamounix, Elvira, Gilda, Violetta, Luisa Miller, Sophie, Zerbinetta, Aminta/Timidia (The silent woman), Musetta, Micaëla, Marguerite, Liù, Medora (Il Corsaro), Nedda, Mrs. Alice Ford, Stella, Olympia, Antonia and Giulietta.

Moșuc received many prestigious prizes. In 1991, she won the international Monte-Carlo music competition, followed by the European Furtherance Prize for Music, in 1993, and the Premio Bellini d’ Oro, in Catania, in 1995. In 2002, Moșuc received the Premio Zenatello di Verona, and in 2004 the Premio Verdi di Modena and the Premio Verdi di Verona. In 2009, Moşuc was the first soprano in Eastern Europe to receive the international award Siola d'oro.
In 2005, Moșuc was appointed an Officer of the Arts by the Romanian presidency. She received Romania's “Woman of the Year" award in 2009. In the same year, she received her doctor’s degree in music science at the National University of Music Bucharest. In 2010, Elena Moșuc became honorary citizen of her native city, Iași.
