El Gaucho (Hebrew: אל גאוצ'ו‎‎) is an Israeli steak house chain with 7 branches around Israel, which opened its first branch in 1982.

Contents

El Gaucho got its name from the Gauchos, or South American cowboys. In traditional Graucho fashion, all grilled food is cooked over an open fire with charcoals, and aged before cooking. When ordering, in addition to ordering the type of steak you want, you also order by weight. All food is served over coals to maintain the heat and eaten on wooden plates.

Locations

As of April 2016, El Gaucho has 6 locations around Israel, which are located in:

  • Eilat
  • Haifa
  • Herzliya
  • Netanya
  • Ramat Gan
  • Rishon LeZion

  • El Gaucho also previously had a location in Jerusalem.

    Kashrut

Four of El Gaucho’s seven branches, as of April 2016, are kosher. Haifa and Netanya are kosher, in addition to Rishon LeZion and Ramat Gan which are kosher lemehadrin. Eilat and Herzliya are not kosher. The former Jerusalem location was also Kosher.

    Other ventures

In addition to the restaurant locations El Guacho also offers a catering business and a line of frozen meat products.
