Eknathrao Ganpatrao Khadse (born 2 September 1952) is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and was a minister of the BJP administration in Maharashtra.

He was elected to the position of Opposition Leader in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly in November 2010. He represents Muktainagar (Assembly constituency) in Jalgaon District of North Maharashtra. He was State Finance Minister and later additionally took on the responsibility as Agriculture Minister in the Shiv Sena/BJP government. He was elected six times from his constituency, and has been a prominent figure for farmers in the state of Maharashtra.

On June 3, 2016, Eknath Khadse resigned as State Cabinet Minister after allegations of corruption and misuse of office were made against him.

Personal life

Eknath Khadse was born the son of a farmer, in Kothali, a village on the banks of the Purna river, in Muktainagar tehsil of the Jalgaon District.

Khadse was a Sarpanch of Kothali village in 1987 and after that he became member of legislative assembly from Muktainagar constituency. He has been elected Member of the Legislative Assembly of Maharashtra State, representing Muktainagar, since 1989. Khadse worked to solve the questions of Maharashtra farmers and Muktainagar vidhansabha khsetra.
He handled both finance and irrigation portfolios in the Shiv Sena-BJP regime of 1995-99. Having served as MLA for six terms, Mr Khadse is now the most senior leader in the Maharashtra party, and has been leader of the opposition in the State Assembly since November 2010. His son, Nikhil Khadase, committed suicide on 1 May 2013.
He was among the front runners for the Maharashtra chief minister post after the 2014 assembly elections.

Corruption Charges and Resignation
Eknath Khadse resigned on June 3, 2016 after allegations of impropriety surfaced against him in a land deal in Pune. Realtor Hemant Gavande leveled charges of land grabbing against him, alleging that Khadse had misused his position as the State Revenue Minister to illegally execute sales deeds for a three-acre industrial plot at Bhosari in Pune District in the names of his wife and son-in-law. Khadse has denied the allegations and termed them as a conspiracy against him hatched by political rivals.
