Edward Laborio (born in Providence, Rhode Island, 1949), is a former professional baseball right-handed pitcher, who played in the minor leagues.

He was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 25th round of the 1968 MLB June Amateur Draft from Cranston High School West (in Cranston, Rhode Island). He was the first athlete to be signed by a professional sports organization from the Cranston West High School. He played four consecutive seasons in the Detroit Tigers baseball organization. He received the Providence Journal Bulletin, Rhode Island all-state Baseball award in 1968. He is co-founder of the Rhode Island Baseball Academy & Institute. He is a member of the Rhode Island Italo-American athlete hall of fame.

Early years

Edward Laborio went to Cranston West High School from 1965-1968, located in Cranston, Rhode Island. There he compiled a pitching record of 20 wins and 2 losses. He holds the Rhode Island High School State Record for Perfect Games Pitched by a High School Student (2 games) and the Rhode Island High School State Record for No Hitter Games Pitched by a High School Student (4 games). He also holds the Rhode Island High School State Record for Strikeouts Pitched by a High School Student in a regulation seven inning game when he recorded (20) Strikeouts out of a Possible (21) outs.

Gulf Coast League Tigers

Edward started his career with GCL Tigers at the age of 18 in 1968. He played in the Gulf Coast League with a ERA of 5.85.

Batavia Trojans

He next joined the Batavia Trojans in 1969 in the New York-Pennsylvania League (NYPL). with a ERA of 3.60. He continued on the team in the year 1970 with a ERA of 2.86. In 1970 He led the New York-Pennsylvania League (NYPL) in games saved (25) and also in games appeared in by a pitcher (39). He received the New York- Pennsylvania League (NYPL) Fireman of the Year Award and was honored by being elected to the all league team.

Rocky Mountain

He joined Rocky Mountainin 1971 and collected a 5.90 ERA.

Lakeland Tigers

Playing in his last year within the Detroit Tigers Organization he joined the AAA Tigers affiliate Lakeland Tigers in the Florida State League. At the end of 1971 he had a ERA of 6.00.
