Biography
Born in Barcelona in 1948. He studied medicine at the University of Barcelona and graduated in Medicine and Surgery. It has the specialty of Clinical Neurophysiology, Pediatrics and European specialist in Sleep Medicine. For the past 27 years is the Director of Estivill Sleep Clinic, Institute Qiron-Dexeus of Barcelona and the Hospital General de Catalunya. In 1989 he started the most decisive stage of his career, forming the Sleep Disorders Unit at the Institut Dexeus in Barcelona. The unit becomes a leader in the treatment of sleep disorders and is recognized for its scientific and educational contributions on this subject. He is the author of numerous papers, more than two hundred in scientific journals as well as books for the general public, which include among them 5 Days to a Perfect Night's Sleep for Your Child, with more than three million copies sold in twenty-two languages, and has helped thousands of children to sleep. The standards recommended in this book are based on Chronobiology and behavioral pedagogical contributions. These are the same rules and habits that recommends the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
