Ecumenical Christian Centre (ECC) was founded in 1963 by a visionary by name M. A. Thomas. ECC is located in Whitefield in Bengaluru on a 29-acre (120,000 m2) campus.

Background
M. A. Thomas, was a Priest of the Mar Thoma Church who had a vision to bring many of the Church societies that were spreading the Gospel onto one single platform. It was also as a result of ecumenism where a greater need for unity among the churches was felt worldwide
Legal Status
ECC is a body corporate registered under the Companies Act 1956 and was incorporated on February 25, 1966 as a company not for profit and falls under the purview of the Registrar of Companies, Karnataka region.

Director
The present Director is Prof. Dr. Fr. Mathew Chandrankunnel. He was a Professor of Philosophy of Science at Dharmaram Vidya Kshetram and Christ University. He belongs to the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate Congregation (CMI), Province of Kottayam. He is the first Catholic priest to serve as the director of Ecumenical Christian Centre.
