Ecum secum nova scotia

Ecum Secum is a rural community on the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia, Canada. It straddles the boundary between Guysborough County and the Halifax Regional Municipality. Located on Ecum Secum Harbour (which is divided by the county line), the community is tied to the fishing industry. Several communities in Halifax County to the west also share the name, including Ecum Secum Bridge and Ecum Secum West. Its name is derived from the Mi'kmaq language and means "a red house". The community is approximately 30 minutes east of Sheet Harbour and 30 minutes west of Sherbrooke on Trunk 7, also known as the Marine Drive. The first Europeans to settle in the Ecum Secum area were Loyalists in the 1770s.
