History

Exotissimo was founded in 1993 in Ho Chi Minh City by Eric Merlin, Denis Colonna and Olivier Colomes. The company started by operating tours in Vietnam.

During the mid 1990s, Exotissimo expanded into other Asian countries, partnering with Su Su Tin for tourism in Myanmar, a country which then had a very small tourist industry.

By 2011, Exotissimo was providing guides for individual tourists throughout Vietnam. That year the company was presented with a Tourism Award by the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism. In 2012 the company began operating tours in China and Japan.

In 2014 Exotissimo was presented with a Corporate Social Responsibility award by the French embassy and the Council for the Development of Cambodia.

In 2015 the company, having changed its name to EXO Travel, was given Travelife Certification for its operations in Cambodia, Vietnam and 2016 for Thailand, Laos and Myanmar.
