ENIMATION Little Elephant - International Children and Youth Film Festival is a leading film festival showcasing short films made for children and youth. It is held every year in Maribor, Slovenia and attracts over 1500 visitors. The aim of the festival is to encourage children and youth to create films and showcase their creative skills to an international audience.

History

The ENIMATION Little Elephant - International Children and Youth Film Festival was founded in 2011. The festival takes place every year in October. The festival is a part of Youth Cinema Network.

  • Impact

    The festival has become an important showcase for international short films from all over the world including world, Europe and Slovenia premieres. Over 350 films are submitted each year, and the jury selects around 80 to screen in competition during the festival.

    Awards

    The festival's board of filmmakers appoints the juries responsible for choosing films that receive the awards. Short film and animation juries of international film and media professionals select the award winning films, with awards given at the Awards Ceremony. 1 winning film in each category and 1 best film from all categories in chosen.

    Little Elephant Award

    An international three member jury selects the overall winner film that receives the Little Elephant award.

    Audience Award

    All selected films also run for the audience award.

    Youth Cinema Award

    One film from each category is nominated to compete for the Youth Cinema Network Award, which is given by the international network of children and youth film production festivals from whole Europe - Youth Cinema Network.

    Festival 2015

    ENIMATION Little Elephant – the 5th International Children and Youth Film Festival took place from October 20, 2015 to October 25, 2015. 355 films from 50 different countries were submitted to the festival out of which 93 films were selected for the Non-Competition programme and 76 films were selected for the Competition programme. The international jury was composed of Serbian artist and co-author of film Rabbitland, Ana Nedeljković, Austrian intermedia artist Nicole Baier and Slovene film creator Miha Šubic . The festival had many special guests including theatre and film actor Vojko Belšak. The Little Elephant Award was presented by Foundation Sonda. The Awards Ceremony was held on 24 October 2015 at Cinema Udarnik. The festival also had a special screening of Scandinavian films made by youth. Hana Repše was the programme director for the festival. The festival was financed by Municipality of Maribor (MOM), Slovene Film Centre (SFC), Slovene Public Fund for Cultural Activities (JSKD) and Employment Service of Slovenia (ZZRS).

    Special Mentions

    The jury handed out Special Mentions to films Wings for Sally, Obstacles and The Game.

    Festival 2014

    ENIMATION little elephant – the 4th International Children and Youth Film Festival took place from October 24, 2014 to October 26, 2014. 146 films from 32 countries were submitted to the film festival and the jury selected 51 films that were presented at the Cinema Udarnik in centre of Maribor, Slovenia. The international jury consisted of Maja Škorjanc, Diana Nenadić , and Dejan Paska. The Awards Ceremony was held on October 26, 2014. The festival was produced by the Association for Film Culture Development and supported by Foundation Sonda, Kibla, Udarnik institute, Aplikata institute and Faculty of Arts Maribor. The award for the best children and youth animated film was sponsored by Foundation Sonda and Kibla.
