History
Dwellable was started by Adam Doppelt in reaction to a Hawaiian vacation rental experience that was, according to Doppelt, “Not exactly the dream vacation we were paying for.” With a background on the information and recommendation side of mobile apps and websites from Urbanspoon, he created Dwellable as a tool to search, reserve, and review vacation rentals. Dwellable is co-founded by software developer Nathan Kriege and CEO Kirby Winfield.
Dwellable was released on iOS on March 15, 2012 and Android on September 20, 2012.
In 2015, HomeAway purchased Dwellable for an undisclosed amount.
Financing
As of June 2014, the company had raised $2 million in venture funding from venture capital firms Maveron and Version One Ventures, as well as Glenn Kelman, Rob Solomon, Jeff Richards, Oren Etzioni, Jon Staenberg, John Keister, and Spencer Rascoff.
