Background
"Dust On My Shoes" was the last song to be recorded for the album. Primarily written by Tikaram's longtime guitarist Mark Creswell, Tikaram was hesitant at first to record it, "because it's kind of a freedom song, and I wasn't sure whether I can write that kind of a song. But it was pretty much written. I didn't know if it was a convincing song. But going back to it, it absolutely made sense on this album. And it probably carried a lot of the spirits of going to record in Los Angeles."
The song was chosen as the first single from the album in May 2012, Tikaram's first music release since 2005. Released primarily as a digital download, the promo CD single featured a shorter radio edit. The single, however, failed to chart. The album was released a few months later, in September 2012.
