Duke St. Rollins

Duke St. Rollins is a U.S-based politically progressive Internet troll on Facebook who received mainstream press notoriety for his socially critical and witty commentary in reply to posts made by major U.S. political and conservative media figures. His outputs have been dubbed by mainstream media journalists as "extraordinary" and coming from "a performance artist." Among his favored targets are Governor Jan Brewer of Arizona, Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, Arizona, and Fox News Channel program host Sean Hannity.

History and identity

According to Stephen Lemons of the Phoenix New Times, the real-life person behind the moniker Duke St. Rollins was an executive in the banking industry, was in his mid-40s, and lived in the Northeastern U.S. while he gained his notoriety as Duke St. Rollins. The person had used several other monikers that incorporated the word "troll" (Duke St. Rollins) and administered several other accounts, also noted by the same press accounts, with which he used to troll for political purposes. At first, he began trolling satirically as what he described as "a hard-right tea-bagger" but later switched to a more direct approach.

Controversy

St. Rollins favored using the word "cunt" to describe people with which he disagreed. He described in his indelicate self-authored Comedy Manifesto, which governed his trolling and described his philosophy,

Some people hate the word cunt. I fucking love it. It is not misogynistic, and a lot of women understand this and have no issue with it. It is usually the PC pussy liberals who get on my case about it. I don't care. I won't stop saying it.
