Dudley Bright has been Principal Trombone for the London Symphony Orchestra since 2000, and is also Professor of Trombone at the Royal Academy of Music. Before that he was for many years in the same position at the Philharmonia Orchestra and Halle Orchestra and before that briefly as an associate with the LSO.

Education
He studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Denis Wick, graduating in 1974. While at the Halle, aged about 23, he taught Ian Bousfield who was only 12 at the time .
Early career
In 2004 he was the featured soloist in Grimethorpe Colliery Band's recording "History of Brass Band Music - The Salvation Army Connection" in Eric Leidzen's Concertino for Trombone and Band. In 2007, he recorded his own solo Life's Command with the International Staff Band of The Salvation Army which was released on a CD called Supremacy. In 2008, he recorded Eric Leidzen's Concertino for Trombone and Band again, this time with the South London Fellowship Band.
Compositions
Bright has also composed a number of pieces of music for Salvation Army brass band. His most recent composition, The Cost of Freedom, was given its first performance by The International Staff Band of The Salvation Army at The Sage Gateshead in May 2008.
