Dual peppy placed in his forever home
Early life

Sired by the leading sire Peppy San Badger, Dual Peppy was a sorrel colt born in 1992 out of the mare Miss Dual Doc (by Doc’s Remedy). He was registered as AQHA# 3113937. In 1998, horseman Pete Bowling organized the sale of the stallion for just over $600,000 to a partnership of Sherri Brunzells and Jim Babcock. As a champion cutting and reining competitor, Dual Peppy won Congress 5/6 YO Classic Cutting, QHA World Show SR Cutting and Reserve World Champion AQHA Sr. Cutting in 1998. He also went on to win World Champion NCHA Novice Horse and earned his American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) Register of Merit (ROM) in Performance with 24.5 Open Performance points in 1999 along with many other wins in his career. In all he earned over $88,400 in NCHA earnings, the NCHA Certificate of Ability (COA) and Bronze Award as well as being honored by the NRCHA with a Superior Cow Horse Award.
Legacy

Dual Peppy went on to become a successful sire of 315 foals with 120 (38%) performing. Peppy stood at Leah Arnold's Weatherford, Texas facility for the 2002 breeding season with a fee of $2,500. His get have earned over $700,000 in winnings.
Rescue
In late September 2014 the Colorado El Paso County Sheriff's Office went to investigate reports of animal cruelty and found 10 emaciated horses alive in a barn along with the carcasses of 14 deceased horses. Dual Peppy was among the horses seized after a warrant was issued days after the initial visit. The owner of The Black Forest Farm, Sherri Brunzells, stated that the deceased horses perished from colic over the past year. When asked about the horses' medical records, the Brunzells responded that their money was better spent on feeding the horses rather than unsatisfactory vet care. When photos of the well-known stallion in such poor condition began circulating, the AQHA community rose up in support for the stallion. Dual Peppy's former owner Jim Babcock expressed deep sadness for Peppy's current situation and stated that he wished to help however he could. The investigations are still ongoing and the horses have been moved to an undisclosed location (as of Oct 2014).
