During Labor Day Weekend, Drum Corps Associates (DCA) Class A corps compete to earn the title of DCA Class A World Champion. The championships consist of 2 rounds (Prelims and Finals) held on 2 consecutive nights (the Saturday and Sunday nights of Labor Day weekend). All corps compete at Prelims, with the top 10 Open Class and top 4 Class A corps competing at Finals. The champion is determined by the overall high score in the Finals competition. There are also a number of caption awards (high brass, high percussion, high visual, etc.), though the process of determination for those awards has changed from year to year.
Thirteen corps have won at least one DCA Class A title (including 1 tie):
Govenaires - 4 titles
Generations - 2 titles (1 tie)
Heat Wave - 2 titles (1 tie)
Skyliners - 2 titles
White Sabers -2 titles
Alliance - 1 title
Carolina Gold - 1 title
Chieftains - 1 title
Chops, Inc. - 1 title
CorpsVets - 1 title
Fusion Core - 1 title
Kingston Grenadiers - 1 title
Sunrisers - 1 title
As of the conclusion of the 2015 competitive season, Govenaires, Alliance, and Chops, Inc. remained active in Class A, while Carolina Gold, CorpsVets (now known as Atlanta CV), Fusion Core, Skyliners, Sunrisers, and White Sabers were all active in DCA Open Class competition.
